Philosophy

The Indiana Volleyball Performance program is centered around HARD WORK and MAXIMUM EFFORT.  The foundation of our philosophy is based on a comprehensive, year-round, progressive training approach. Our objective is not only to provide a progressive systematic approach to all facets of training, but to do so as efficiently, productively and safely as possible.  The Indiana Volleyball Performance will focus on strength/resistance training, speed/movement development, nutritional awareness/education and volleyball specific conditioning.

The goals of our performance program are injury prevention, maximal physical development and mental toughness.  We believe that a strong, well-trained athlete is not only less susceptible to injury, but also better able to recover if injury does occur.  Our other goal is to develop our teams/athletes to their maximal physical potential.  Our strength-training program targets all muscles and joint regions; neither over-emphasizing nor under-emphasizing any one specific body area.   The conditioning program involves the development of both aerobic and anaerobic energy systems through interval and distance based training protocols.  We also dedicate time to agility, balance, and speed development.

Our approach to training also focuses on mental toughness.  Our athletes will be challenged and pushed both mentally and physically.  Through our training we will incorporate team toughness, team unity, and spirit of competition.

Our objective is to provide our athletes with the ability to perform their volleyball specific skills with an increased capacity; for power, speed and endurance (recovery)……..it is imperative that we translate our increased strength, power and movement enhancement to an applicable form on the court.  The training is not designed to build/foster a bodybuilder, power-lifter or Olympic weight-lifter but rather to enhance and improve our athletes ability to perform their sport’s specific skills.
